Under the Holy Apostolic See of Antioch and All the East.
Welcome to the digital home of the Jacobite Syriac Orthodox Church. To understand this Church is to journey back to the very dawn of Christianity, to the lands where the Apostles walked, and to the faith they handed down—unaltered and preserved through centuries of triumph and trial. As you explore our history and beliefs, it is essential to understand our identity not merely as a denomination, but as a living branch of the original Apostolic tree, deeply rooted in the Holy See of Antioch.
Our spiritual lineage springs from the See of Antioch, established by St. Peter the Apostle in AD 37. It was in Antioch, the ancient capital of Syria, that the early believers were first called "Christians" (Acts 11:26). The Syriac Orthodox Church is the direct continuation of this ancient community.
